Our family has visited pumpkin patches all over the Salem area and Willamette Valley, from simple U-pick farms where you only pay for your pumpkins to huge harvest festivals with corn mazes, animals, train rides, bounce houses and enough activities to fill an entire day.
And yes, we have opinions! Some farms are fantastic for younger kids, while others are better for teens. A few are perfect if you mostly want pumpkins, donuts and cute fall photos without spending a fortune.

Best pumpkin patches near Salem, Oregon: quick picks
Best overall: Bauman’s Farm in Gervais. If you want the classic, full-day Oregon harvest festival experience, Bauman’s is hard to beat. There are dozens of activities, farm animals, corn mazes, giant slides, apple cider donuts and plenty of food.
Best for animals: Frog Pond Farm in Wilsonville. This is the place for kids who would happily spend the entire afternoon meeting farm animals. And yes, there really are llamas wandering through the pumpkin patch on weekends!
Best simple U-pick experience: Beilke Family Farm in Brooks. We love Beilke when we want pumpkins and apples without all the extra festival bells and whistles. Our kids had a great time wandering the pumpkin field, running through the sunflower maze and tasting different apple varieties.
Best non-scary Halloween experience: Powerland Heritage Park in Brooks. Powerland’s family Halloween adventure combines a mystery story with historic trolley rides and train-themed fun rather than haunted houses and jump scares.
Best Halloween atmosphere: Yesteryear Farms in Wilsonville. Yesteryear absolutely nails spooky-season vibes. Their giant pumpkin displays, corn maze, fall gift shop and photo opportunities make the whole place feel like Halloween has arrived.
Best pumpkin-patch treats close to Salem: E.Z. Orchards. Their fresh donuts alone are worth the stop. We often get raspberry or strawberry donuts that are still warm!

Pumpkin Patches in Salem, Oregon
EZ Orchards (Salem)

EZ Orchards is a historic farm located just outside Salem. The farm market is open year-round and sells all kinds of fresh produce, as well as various gourmet foods and fresh donuts. The donut flavors vary by day of the week, so be sure to check the website for the current selection.
The raspberry donuts we got were so fresh, they were still warm!
There’s a picnic area and a play area outside the market too. This creates a perfect setup for customers to enjoy their ice cream or strawberry shortcake (early summer).
EZ Orchards grows several apple varieties and produces hard apple cider in the French style, as well as an apple dessert wine. This is a wonderful place to visit any time of the year with the whole family!
The HarvestFest at E.Z. Orchards is family-friendly and focused on education. Their goal is to be a resource for the local community, and many school groups enjoy a farm tour in the fall.

Powerland Heritage Park (Brooks)

The Powerland Heritage Park is a fantastic pumpkin patch experience for families that enjoy trains and other antique vehicles and equipment.
Each year Powerland Heritage Park offers an immersive Halloween adventure where visitors undertake a quest on the historic trolley. The 2026 theme is A Trolley Museum Mystery – The Case of the Missing Fairy.
The experience includes the mystery adventure, trolley ride, MAX car ride, kids activity center and Sunday model-railroad access. The adventure is a non-scary Halloween activity for all ages.

Beilke Family Farm is a U-Pick farm that specializes in apples. Their apple orchard is 10 acres of dwarf apple trees that includes 18 varieties of apples that are within easy reach of kids and adults. Our son loved tasting several different apples off the trees before choosing which ones to take home!
Bielke Family Farm has a field of pumpkins, squashes and gourds available for U-Pick. Our kids loved wandering the pumpkin patch to find their favorite pumpkin to take home.
Prices are reasonable, and once you’ve decided on your pumpkins, you can also enjoy the sunflower maze and other U-pick vegetables and fruit.
This is a great place for families looking for a U-Pick pumpkin patch without a lot of extra bells and whistles. There are plenty of great photo opportunities as well.

Bauman Farms (Gervais)

We heard about Bauman’s Farm when our girls went there for a fall youth group event. Even though it was pouring rain the day they went, this popular destination was jam-packed with people. Our girls still had a fantastic day, despite the mud and crowds.
Bauman Farms has a huge selection of plants and garden supplies, as well as home decor and gift items.
There’s a bakery, coffee bar, fresh apple cider bar, fresh produce market, and lunch items for sale year-round. And that’s only inside the buildings!
Outside there are several seating areas, a barn and petting zoo, a giant play area, and a tire pyramid. These are all open during the rest of the year, not just in the fall.
Please note that if you want to enjoy the playground activities with your kids, a minimum $20 purchase at the farm store is required.
DON’T MISS THIS! The last few years, Bauman Farms has hosted a GIANT PUMPKIN DROP at the opening of their Harvest Festival. It’s epic, and we hope to see it firsthand this year! The drop for 2026 will be on October 3 at 1 pm.
The Harvest Festival includes even more activities (listed below). There are also several themed weekends for 2026, including a Sunflower Saturday, Bauman’s Cider Trail and a Cider Festival.

Fir Point Farms has so much to offer, it’s worth stopping by even when it’s not pumpkin season! Their bakery and cafe serves lunch, and there’s plenty of indoor and outdoor seating.
Pets are welcome as long as they remain outside the food service area. Kids will love visiting the farm animals, too.
The Country Market at Fir Point Farms carries a wide variety of local gourmet foods. However its most unique feature is the row of presidential pumpkins along the top of the wall!

Pumpkin Run at the Flower Farmer (Canby)

The Flower Farmer is a family-owned farm that also includes a miniature railroad, called the Phoenix and Holly.
In the fall, the engine becomes a giant jack-o-lantern during the annual harvest festival, called the Pumpkin Run. The railroad runs throughout the farm, stopping by to visit the farm animals, the giant hay pyramid, and the pumpkin patch.
We stopped by here one afternoon and the boys spent a good half hour exploring the hay pyramid both inside and out. We’d never seen such a huge hay bale pyramid, and going inside to find your way through the maze made it extra fun!
The Flower Farmer also has a farm market stand and some food trucks offering refreshments. There’s space to picnic as well. If your family likes spooky events, check out the Boo train, which runs at night on selected weekends during the Pumpkin Run.

Detering Orchards is another great destination even when it’s not pumpkin season. U-pick products, as well as pre-picked options, make it a good spot to get your in-season fruits and veggies, and you can enjoy a cool brew in the Saloon after a hot day of picking produce.
Year-round activities include a fenced playground, petting zoo, a mechanical bull, the Cider Barn, Treasure Mining, and a cow barrel train. There’s plenty to keep kids of all ages busy at Detering Orchards!

Bose Family Farm (Albany)

Bose Family Farm’s claim to fame is the huge corn maze. In 2021 it was a wolf’s head, and the design for the 6-acre corn maze in 2022 was a boar’s head.
They have previously offered an entry for a prize drawing if you find all 6 of the scarecrows – the prize was half a hog! My teens would love the maze, but little kids may find it a bit overwhelming.
There are various harvest decor items for sale, as well as their U-Pick pumpkin patch with over 35 varieties of pumpkins for sale. Pumpkin pricing ranges from 50 cents to $20.

French Prairie Gardens is a huge family operation with activities and events going on throughout the growing season. The Pohlschnieder family works together in various capacities to run the farm according to their differing interests.
The site includes a bakery, garden center, farm market, and facilities for the many agri-tourism events they host. We highly recommend the Cookie Monster milkshake if you have a sweet tooth!
French Prairie Gardens also has a sunflower festival in September before the Pumpkin Patch event in October. The dates for 2026 are September 19-20.
The sunflower festival is followed by the famous Pigtucky Derby pig races each weekend in October. It’s hard to think of an activity that’s missing from this incredible annual harvest festival!

For families with young kids, Lee Farms is the place to have a full day of fun! Besides the traditional pumpkins to choose from, kids can also jump on huge bounce pads, ride a giant slide, swing on an extra-large swing, play on multiple play structures and more.
Farm animals are interspersed throughout, and there’s also a super colorful barrel wagon train to ride for the younger ones. There are so many photo ops, it won’t be difficult to find the perfect spot for your fall family photo shoot.
Lee Farms also has a store and bakery that is open year-round with fresh baked goods and farm fresh produce.
Lee Farms hosts Oregon’s Largest Sunflower festival in August before their pumpkin patch opening. Pumpkins, hay bales, corn stalks, and other fall produce items are available to decorate for autumn.

Yesteryear Farms takes the cake for sheer Halloween spirit! From the moment you enter through their wall of pumpkins (dozens of crates stacked in a wall with a different pumpkin variety in each one), you can’t help but feel that it’s truly spooky season.
Photo ops and activities abound at this fun pumpkin patch. Explore the corn maze and sunflower maze, then choose a pumpkin from the patch. Enjoy food from one of the many food trucks on site in their picnic area decorated with adorable hanging pumpkins and hay bales.
I took my teen daughters with me to Yesteryear Farms and we were all enchanted. We spent so much time exploring the beautiful fall, Halloween and Thanksgiving decor in the gift shop – it was hard to stay on budget!
We heard from the salesperson that the Christmas gift shop is even better, so we’re already making plans to return.

On The Edge Farm is a newer, family-owned farm between Rickreall and Dallas. Established in 2023, they have farm animals and pumpkins in a beautiful setting overlooking a pond. This is the perfect place to visit if you want an authentic farm experience and few crowds.
There’s a fun play zone for kids, and a covered area that’s available to rent for birthday parties. We loved the huge variety of pumpkins and the fun photo ops with farm animals (Highland cows, longhorns, llamas and more).

Greens Bridge Gardens offers far more than just farm fresh produce at their farm market as well as U-pick produce. You can easily spend several hours here exploring the various harvest and farm activities. Most of the activities are geared towards younger kids, but even my teen daughter found plenty of fun things to do.
Take a walk out to the pumpkin fields to find the perfect pumpkin. You’ll want to borrow one of the free wheelbarrows if you plan to pick one of the giant pumpkins. If you’d rather not walk, grab a ride out on the hayride, or just select your pumpkin from the huge pile near the market.
Older kids and teens will enjoy the corn maze, tall hay maze, and hamster wheels. The younger set can try the duck races, giant slides or the covered hay maze and play area. Buy a wristband to get access to all the activities, or just get tokens for specific activities.

Call ahead for specific items
Call ahead if you want a specific kind of produce, pumpkin, or item. The phone number listed on the website or Facebook page will give you the quickest answer to your farm question, and you might save yourself a trip by checking ahead.
Sometimes demand exceeds supply, especially towards the end of the season – some pumpkin patches closed a week early in 2021 because they sold out of pumpkins.
Dress for the weather
Wear clothes appropriate to the weather. You are visiting a farm, so if the weather has been wet, mud is guaranteed!
Crowd control
Weekends are going to be incredibly busy at the farms, and you will be in closer contact with people. If you have low immunity or if your kids have sensory issues, it may be best to visit on a weekday when things are quieter.
On the other hand, live music and many events may only be available on weekends, so decide which is more important to you before visiting.

I was impressed with the sheer number of options as well – pumpkin patches are far more common here in the Salem area than I expected.
One that you might also look at – Heiser’s Pumpkin Patch in Grand Island/Dayton area (about 30 mins North of Salem). Closed the past few years due to Covid, but planning to be open this year.
