Muddy Christmas tree U-Cut field after a rain.
This soggy field of Christmas trees is typical for Western Oregon

Not all kids or adults will enjoy a U-cut experience. The fields are usually muddy, and it can rain unexpectedly. Consider that before you take the family out to the tree fields.

Dress warmly and wear sturdy footwear, especially if you plan to go U-cut. We’ve also found it helpful to bring plastic sheeting or flattened cardboard boxes to kneel on while cutting our own tree.

Don’t forget to bring a saw, rope, or a tree bag to transport your Christmas tree. Many farms provide this, but not all do, and if it’s busy you may have to wait for equipment to become available.

Hand saws lined up for customers to use.

Do you have a favorite place to get your Christmas tree?

With so many amazing Christmas tree farms in the Salem area, it’s hard to choose just one! Let us know if you have a favorite, or if we’ve missed any.
